Information of Interest: BDDS Announces Availability of Caregiver Support Service Funds for 20166/30/2015
Earlier today, the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services (BDDS) announced the availability of Caregiver Support Services funds for fiscal year 2016. These funds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning July 1, 2015. For additional information on Caregiver Support Services funds, please see the FAQ on the BDDS webpage. These funds may be requested through the online application or by visiting the local BDDS office and requesting an application.

Late last week, INARF Member Bridges of Indiana announced that Keith Digman has been selected to serve as their Muncie Regional Director. While we are sad to see Keith leave the INARF staff, we are tremendously proud that he was selected for this opportunity. We are also glad to know that he will remain a part of the INARF family in this new role.

David Mank, Director of the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community (IIDC), has announced his retirement. Mank has been Director of the Center since 1996 and has made a significant impact within the community. "Under the leadership David has provided,” said Rick Van Kooten, interim Vice Provost for research at IU Bloomington. “IIDC’s centers have produced excellent research and scholarship as well as provided vital training and assistance to many thousands of individuals, from developmental disability professionals to family members to people with disabilities themselves.” In 2012, Mank received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, given to individuals making lifetime contributions to people with disabilities and their families.
INARF member and State Use Program provider, Rauch has been awarded a grant from the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County. The funds awarded provide a match to Rauch’s previous award through the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) for the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible van. Rauch was one of many organizations in Floyd County benefiting from the foundation’s goal to improve the community.
The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) recently upheld the decision of a lower court that the Affordable Care Act’s (aka ObamaCare) subsidies are constitutional by a 3 – 6 ruling. The ruling means that these subsidies will continue to be allowed for those receiving health care under federal exchanges.
