On Wednesday, June 5, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee released a bipartisan discussion draft of legislation to reauthorize the Older Americans Act. The most recent OAA reauthorization was enacted in 2016 for a three year period that expires on September 30, 2019. Over the past several months, a bipartisan group of staffers on the Committee have worked to develop policies and legislative text for the next reauthorization. On Wednesday afternoon they publicly released their draft bill text for review and comment.
The Committee is requesting that feedback be sent to moaa@help.senate.gov by Friday, June 14. Click here to read a copy of the Committee section-by-section summary visit. News and Announcements (home page)
As you may know, the Division of Aging is conducting a home and community-based services rate methodology project, in coordination with the broader FSSA organization, to develop a structured and transparent approach to establishing new rates for its Medicaid HCBS waiver program services. As a follow up to our Division of Aging rate methodology meeting on April 25, 2019, we will be holding two in-person stakeholder meetings for a technical discussion on the Division’s provider survey results, proposed rates and estimated fiscal impact.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division will offer free seminars to assist employers, community rehabilitation programs (CRPs) and other certificate holders in complying with section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Guardians and family members of workers with disabilities, and other stakeholders are also invited and encouraged to attend.
