Last week, the Indiana General Assembly kicked-off the 2016 legislative session. This week, Governor Mike Pence will give his State of the State address. He unveiled his legislative agenda last week and it included supporting the ABLE Act legislation introduced by Senator Luke Kenley. Hundreds of bills have been introduced and we expect more to come.
As INARF first unveiled in November, the INARF System of Excellence Program provides a repository of Resources and Consultants to members in support of their efforts to improve and enhance quality services and supports. INARF is excited to announce that members have submitted over 25 Resources and Consultants for consideration, and additional resources are being approved and added to the resource repository each month. Nearly 100 members and legislative champions of The Arc of Indiana and INARF gathered at the January 7 Critical Issues Forum to celebrate, exchange information, and engage in thought-provoking conversations about issues facing the industry. The day began with opening remarks and an overview of The Arc and INARF’s legislative agendas from Kim Dodson, The Arc of Indiana Executive Director, and Kim Opsahl, INARF President/CEO, followed by a presentation of data from The State of the State in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Dr. David Braddock’s presentation included information concerning a wide variety of topics related to the industry and provides information INARF members can use to educate legislators, their Boards, self-advocates, and staff. This week, the Bureau of Quality Improvement Services (BQIS) posted additional documents related to the Data Driven Quality Improvement Initiative. Documents included a Quality Improvement Plan Guide and Example, Root Cause Analysis Guidance, a Data Driven Review Glossary.
