INARF member Stone Belt announced that Maureen Gahan, who has directed the Milestones Clinical and Health Resources program for the past 15 years, will be retiring. Stone Belt has selected of James Wiltz, PhD to succeed her. Wiltz will start on August 3 and with the guidance of Gahan fully take the director role on October 1.
Wade Wingler, Director of the Assistive Technology Center and the INDATA Project at INARF member Easter Seals Crossroads, will be presenting at Camp CreATe - Create, Reuse, and Explore Assistive Technology. Assistive Technology in New Hampshire (ATinNH) presents Camp CreATe, a week-long, hands-on experience making, taking, and exploring Assistive Technology for home, school, work, and play.
Sarah joins INARF this month as the Public Policy Coordinator. In this role, Sarah assists with the implementation of state legislative and regulatory initiatives, working with the Governmental Affairs Committee and the INARF PAC Board and the Membership Support and Development Committee. She also coordinates responses to member inquiries related to industry issues and practices, and researches and provides summaries, formal comments, and talking points for emerging issues related to the mission of INARF Members
INARF member Tangram, Inc. is transitioning its leadership. Tangram’s Board of Directors announced the retirement of Connie Dillman, current President and CEO, and the appointment of Steve O’dore. O’dore is currently the Director of Behavioral Health and Life Coaching at Tangram and has been with the organization for 10 years. He was approved by unanimous vote of the board and enjoys the enthusiasm of its members for his vision. O’dore will assume his role at President/CEO of Tangram on July 1, 2015.
In Sacramento, Calif. advocates for people with disabilities went to the state Capitol after additional funding for services was left out of the $115.4 billion deal. Dwight Hansen, a lobbyist for developmental disabilities group The Lanterman Coalition, said the proposed 2015-2016 budget increase for developmental disabilities services is only to accommodate a growing number of people in the system, the funding for institutions and programs remains the same. It was hoped that the budget would pay for programs such as assisted care that helps people with disabilities stay in their homes.
